What is PFA and what are the characteristics of high-purity PFA tubes?

2024-05-27

1.What is PFA?

PFA is a plastic material made from a mixture of tetrafluoroethylene and perfluoroalkyl vinyl ethers suitable for various melt processing methods such as extrusion, injection and transfer molding. Common PFA resin raw material brands on the market are DuPont, Kemu, Daikin, Dongyue, Juhua and so on.

2.What is PFA tube?

PFA tubes are tubes made from PFA resin raw materials, usually produced by extrusion molding. This kind of pipe is excellent in heat resistance, chemical corrosion resistance and electrical properties. Specifically, it can maintain good mechanical strength in a large temperature range of -40℃ to +260℃; It is highly resistant to almost all chemicals and is not easy to be corroded; At the same time, it has low dielectric constant and loss factor in high frequency environment, showing excellent insulation performance. In addition, PFA tubes also have excellent flame retardancy, with a limit oxygen index of 95%, which meets the fire rating standard of UL94V-0.

3.What are the characteristics of high purity PFA tube?

In semiconductor manufacturing, hydrofluoric acid (HF) is an important strong acid used to etch silicon and other materials and to clean chips. Because HF is highly corrosive, the pipes that transport it need to have extremely high corrosion resistance. High-purity PFA tubes, such as Daikin 231SH, DuPont 451HP and DuPont 951HP models, are common solutions.

High purity PFA tubes have several key advantages:

1. Corrosion resistance: It can effectively resist the erosion of strong acids such as hydrofluoric acid.

2. High temperature stability: even in high temperature environment, it can maintain good performance, suitable for conveying hydrofluoric acid under high temperature conditions.

3. Strong insulation: As an excellent electrical insulation material, suitable for use with electrical equipment.

4. High mechanical strength: strong bending strength and tensile resistance, adapt to a variety of complex industrial environment needs.

5. High cleanliness: To ensure that no impurities are introduced in the process of conveying hydrofluoric acid, which contributes to the stability of the semiconductor production process and the improvement of product quality.
